Ronald Eisenberg, M.D., J.D.

Biographical information
Ronald Eisenberg, M.D., author of The Jewish World in Stamps, has written extensively on both stamps and Jewish topics. After earning bachelor and medical degrees from the University of Pennsylvania in his native Philadelphia, Dr. Eisenberg completed a residency in radiology at the University of California Medical Center in San Francisco. Currently the Chairman of Imaging at the Alameda County Medical Center in Oakland, Dr. Eisenberg has contributed more than 90 articles to the scientific literature and is the author of 20 textbooks, including a richly illustrated history of his specialty that was published to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Roentgen's discovery of x-rays. He also is the editor of a journal, The Radiologist, and co-author of "Doctor/Doctor", a medical question-and-answer column that appears in seven Northern California newspapers. A non-practicing attorney, Dr. Eisenberg's latest book deals with radiology and the law.

Dr. Eisenberg founded a library minyan at his synagogue, where he regularly chants the Torah portion and delivers a commentary. Other books in press are The 613 Mitzvot and Jewish Tradition.

On stamps, Eisenberg has spoken before the Emanu-Elders, the Hadassah Leadership Academy, and will be speaking at the Miami Jewish Book Fair 2003, as well as in other JCCs in southern Florida. As a radiologist, he has spoken as visiting professor at about 100 medical centers throughout the world, including virtually all centers in Israel, and has presented refresher courses at national radiology meetings for the past 20 years.
