Biographical information
Dr. Sonya Friedman was the host of the CNN informational/news program, "Sonya Live," for 8 years, ABC Talk Radio's resident psychologist for 10 years, and a weekly columnist for the Detroit Free Press for 10 years. Dr. Friedman's ability to translate her knowledge and training in psychology to everyday concerns and news events has made her one of the most recognized psychologists in the country. Her new book, Take It From Here, How to get from where you are to where you want to be, was released in February, 2004.

A few of the numerous honors she has received throughout her illustrious career include: the first annual "Star" award by the American Women in Radio and Television honoring a continued commitment to the issues and concerns of women, an Emmy award for her TV program "Sonya," Cable's ACE Award for CNN's "Sonya Live," The American Psychological Association's Presidential Award for her outstanding contribution through the media, and most recently her induction into the Michigan Speakers Hall of Fame.

In addition to her media work, Dr. Friedman has authored several books that have put her on The New York Times bestseller list: Secret Loves…Women With Two Lives, On A Clear Day You Can See Yourself, A Hero Is More Than Just a Sandwich, Smart Cookies Don't Crumble, and Men Are Just Desserts.

Dr. Friedman received her master's degree in educational psychology and a doctorate in psychology from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI, plus continuing medical education at the University of Arizona Health Sciences Center. She continues her private clinical practice in Birmingham, MI. Dr. Friedman is a guest lecturer for the Pritikin Center, Canyon Ranch, the Golden Door spas and the Crystal Symphony cruise line.
